The first day at the highest kiteboarding event of the world showed perfect conditions for freestyle competition. In a top level riding freestyle final Italian Alberto Rondina defeated German
Mario Rodwald. Another top rider from Germany Stefan Permien batteled Christophe Tack from Belgium in the heat for the last rank on the podium.
The Silvaplana decision also promises a dramatic final of the Kitesurf Tour Europe 25 nd. 28 th. of August in Swinoujscie (Poland): “I have to be on first place and if Alberto rides worse than rank 4 I´ll be ...
Kiteboarding Champion Europe”, Mario Rodwald told right after the price giving ceremony. The ranks three to six are only one point close in the up to date ranking.
Swiss hope and local rider Celine Collaud from Silvaplana was not able to defeat Polish top rider Anja Grzelinska: “Even if I knew better about the special conditions of the thermal winds in high altitude at my lake it was simply not possible to push my performance harder at the end of my heat against Anja – I lost at my home spot, but let`s wait who is ahead in the series!”, Celine told being comptitive like always. Celine is still leading the overall ranking of the Freestyle tour being four points ahead from the female hunting group Johara Sykes-Davis (UK; 370 points), Nicky Rudd (UK; 369 point) and Kathrin Borgwardt (Germany, 368 points).
After a spectacular Freestyle day the Silvaplana leg of the Kitesurf Tour Europe was in the focus of the racing fleet for the last day. French Bruno Sroka won in front of Dutch Rolf van de Vlugt, Danish Bjoern Rune Jenssen, Joungster Florian Gruber (17 years old) and Racing Expert and also German Dirk Hanel (German Speed record holder). So the last stage of the Kitesurf Tour Europe 25 nd. 28 th. of August in Swinoujscie at the baltic sea in Poland will be the show down between Jenssen and Sroka who is only one point ahead. The Swiss racing piltos did not perform within the last five.
The rider were happy to spend time with visiting the Corvatsch galcier, paddle surfing and slack lining at the event. Once again the highest kiteboarding event in the world was a sign for swiss hospitality and spectacular landscape wich will spread out all over the world.
