This morning, the Kitesurf Tour Europe started into its second stop in Lamezia, Italy. 76 riders from 16 countries registered for the event competing in freestyle and course racing. The day took off with the skippersmeeting welcoming all the riders at the rider's lounge on Camping Fabiano.
After all rules were explained and seedings done, it was time for the racers to get on the water. In light winds around 13 knots, Julien Kerneur (FRA) took the win in the first three races, leaving fellow frenchmen Olivier Dansin and Maxime Nocher in second and third place. In the women competition, Katja Roose (NED) won every race today with Brunacci (ITA) and Gil (USA) following.
During the afternoon, the wind was strong enough to also start the freestyle single eliminations. In winds around 14-15 knots, it was a challenging competition for the riders in the first rounds with Pereira, Garofalo, Guias, Catalani, Cantini, Hyryleinen and Marino proceeding into next round.
For tonight, we got the pool-party in the riders lounge and the wind forecast for tomorrow looks promising to continue with freestyle and race competitions here in Lamezia.
